I think I need to seal my final finish coat in the stairwell and hallway - lots of nicks and dings are bound to happen with people carrying stuff in and out.  What is the best sealer that will make the finish coat rock hard?

Have thought about brushing a wash of casein binder over the finish as I know casein and lime are very compatible and the casein would help to harden the surface.

Whatever I use, how long do I need to wait before applying it?  Do I have to wait for a full cure on the lime plaster or can I coat it like 3 days after it's dry?

Your finish will become very hard as it cures ,there really isnt a clear coat that will make it harder but there are some that will make it easy to keep clean. Many diferent waxes will do the trick some oilbased some acrylic also some water based clear coats also work nice[aquagard] from aqua finishes is the one I use the most .Kevin

Hey, Kevin - thanks so much.  I know the finish is supposed to get harder as it cures, but I am 2 1/2 months into curing time and already have several dings and scrapes in the wall....we've had a lot of company over the past 2 months and lots of suitcases, etc. in and out....so I wanted to go ahead and protect it.

That's another question - what is the soonest I can clear coat it (if I decide to do so)...I think it's 2 weeks?

Aquagard...is that the same thing as Setcoat Clear?

Thanks Kevin - as always, you are a great resource.

Cleta your finish can be clearcoated after about a week.Clear set coat is not the same as aquagard it is stronger so maybe dilute the first coat with 1/3 water.and try on a small area.I do two coats witha lite sanding between[220 paper]if any nubs appear.Remember thin coats.K
